Common questions
What is the difference between 24K, 22K and 18K gold?
24K is 99.9% pure gold, used mainly for coins and bars. 22K (91.6% pure) is the standard for jewellery as it is more durable. 18K (75% pure) is often used for diamond-studded pieces. Higher purity means a higher price per gram.
What are MCX commodity trading hours?
The Multi Commodity Exchange trades Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to around 11:30 PM IST (extended to about 11:55 PM during US daylight time). It is closed on weekends and declared holidays.
Why do gold prices change every day?
Indian gold rates track international spot prices (set in London), the USD/INR exchange rate, import duty and GST, and local demand. A weaker rupee or higher global prices push domestic rates up.
Are these the final prices I'll pay for jewellery?
No. The rates shown are indicative metal prices. Your final bill also includes GST, making charges, and any jeweller-specific premium, so it will be higher than the listed rate.
